Cal-Salmon River

The Cal-Salmon River runs through a steep and rocky gorge, offering challenging class 4-5 whitewater. This trip is recommend for experienced boaters only, and runs only from April through early June, depending on water levels. The lush foliage, waterfalls and biodiversity of this area are thankfully protected by congress as a National Wild and Scenic River. Long class 4-5 rapids, tight chutes and big drops make this one of the most challenging guided trips in the lower 48 states. One and 2 day trips are suitable for ages 15 and up.

Trip options include 1-day and multi-day rafting adventures from easy to extreme on the South Fork American, Middle Fork American and the North Fork of the American River in northern California.
