Known as the Grand Canyon of Oregon, the Owyhee River is located in the remote south east corner of Oregon. Trips range in length from 4-10 days. The Owyhee is a desert river with red or grey cliffs towering over the rocky river, and unique scenery often described as other worldly. The Lower section is rated class 2-3 and the Middle Owyhee is class 4+, offering different options for whitewater excitement. Sandy beaches and riverside hotsprings add to the magic of this trip, and there are opportunities to view 9000 year old petroglyphs. Rafting is offered April through June, depending on water levels. After June, the river is more suited to kayaks.
